Ii – a small place close by, but still in its own peace
The municipality of Ii is located only about half an hour’s drive from Oulu and about an hour from Kemi. Both Oulu and Kemi airports make the area easily accessible even for those arriving from further afield – yet once you arrive you feel as if you have entered a completely different rhythm.
Nature is present everywhere in Ii. The Ii River flows peacefully towards the Bay of Bothnia, and the sea is part of the landscape all year round.
In summer, you can enjoy the bright nights, fishing and greenery along the riverbank. In winter, the sea freezes, the landscape becomes quiet and the northern lights bring their own magic.
Located in the heart of the municipality, the idyllic Old town of Ii, Wanha Hamina, tells the story of the area’s history – the old wooden houses and peaceful environment make a visit an experience in itself.
Ii is also an excellent base for excursions: Within a day’s drive, you can visit the landscapes of Iso-Syöte, the experiences of Ranua’s Arctic Wildlife Park and the northern atmosphere of Rovaniemi. The Virpiniemi golf course and the services of the City of Oulu are also nearby.
Ii is a small place on the map – but surprisingly central. Here you can enjoy the peace of nature without anything being too far away.

The dog forest Hiisi offers a unique environment for both dogs and non-dogs — peace, nature and the joy of exercise. Hiisi can be reached in winter by walking, cycling or skiing along the route from our cottages. In summer, you can head there by cycling, walking — and of course also by car all year round.
In winter, the snowmobile tours of Iisland offer a little speed to your holiday.
We have a wonderful outdoor swimming pool in Vihkosaari. Here, you can also take a dip in the open water swimming in winter. The price of your stay includes use of the swimming pool and changing rooms. Ask your host for the key if you want to visit the swimming pool.
